Title: Losing It
Author: Cora Carmack
Published: October 15, 2012

Virginity.

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

My Teaser:

It wasn't fair that he looked so good.

I groaned and covered my eyes.

"Why does the world hate me?"

They both laughed, but it wasn't funny. SERIOUSLY. Why does the world hate me?

I'm reading this with my sister-in-law right now.  It's really good!!  I was hesitant to read it at first, but I'm glad she convinced me to make it our next "buddy book".  So far, it's great! :)

Release Day Launch: The Hazards of Skinny Dipping by Alyssa Rose Ivy

I'm so excited to be taking part in Alyssa's release day launch for her newest book, The Hazards of Skinny Dipping!  I'm a huge fan of Alyssa's, and I can't wait to read this one!!

This isn't a deep book about first loves or self-discovery. If you want a book like that, I'd be happy to recommend one, but I don't have that kind of story to tell. Instead my story is about rash decisions and finding out that your dream guy is bad in bed. It's the story of when I finally went skinny dipping, and how my life was never the same again. Oh, and it's also the story of my freshman year of college and realizing Mr. Right might have been there all along.

Alyssa Rose Ivy is a New Adult and Young Adult author who loves to weave stories with romance and a southern setting. Although raised in the New York area, she fell in love with the South after moving to New Orleans for college. After years as a perpetual student, she turned back to her creative side and decided to write. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two young children, and she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.

Book Blitz: Surface by Tiffany Daune

I'm excited to be taking part in the Surface book blitz, hosted by Giselle at Xpresso Blog Tours!  Today I have an excerpt and two giveaways!  Thanks for stopping by! :)

Title: Surface
Author: Tiffany Daune
Published: February 2013
Publisher: Noble Young Adult

Bound to the water bound to land, a Siren’s soul will never be safe on either side of the ocean’s surface. Hidden beneath the rolling waves lies the secret to Theia’s past and as she unveils each haunting truth, she realizes the last seventeen years of her life have been a lie. Now, drawn into a mysterious new world and with nowhere to turn, Theia must place her trust in Luc, a beautiful boy who stops her heart with each dazzling smile, but even his unearthly charm can’t hide the truth—he has secrets— dark secrets binding him to his world—an underwater world where Theia will never belong—a world determined to destroy her soul.

Tears streamed down the girl's cheeks. She pounded her knees into Dumas's back, struggling to free herself. Dumas reached for his bag, yanking it closer, and pulled out a black hood. Cradling her neck, he slipped the hood over her head. She tried once more to jab him in the back with her knee, but, as the hood enveloped her face, she gave in to the darkness surrounding her, and her body fell limp.
Dumas turned to Oliver, but the boy was bent over, his chest heaving for air. Dumas shook his head, his lips pursed. He didn't have time for this right now. He needed to get the girl out of the house. With one arm, he dragged the girl to her feet and guided her down the hall while Oliver stumbled behind them like a newly resurrected zombie.
Downstairs, Dumas found Fiona pacing the kitchen, her black soles scuffing the tiled floors.
"What happened up there?" Fiona's gaze shifted to Oliver. "What's wrong with him?"
Dumas handed the girl to Fiona. "Take her to the van."
He tossed the keys to Oliver who grabbed them. Facing Dumas with hollow eyes, he awaited further instructions.
Dumas sighed. "Follow Fiona. You can hold the girl in the back of the van."
Oliver ran after Fiona, his feet shuffling through the fallen leaves. Dumas rolled his eyes—next time, he would leave Oliver behind.
Dumas knelt to wipe the floor clean. A little dirt wouldn't matter when he had already created such a big mess, but the simple action grounded his thoughts. He stood up, resting his gaze on the collection of photos pinned to the refrigerator, a museum of shared memories. A small picture of the girl's mother standing beside a handsome young man with golden hair and piercing sea green eyes stared back at him. The man's gaze haunted Dumas, filling him with unwanted memories, too painful to remember, and forcing him to look away.
Dumas sighed as he removed a crumpled envelope from his pocket. He held the letter tight for a moment before placing it on the table. He traced the scrawled name with his finger—Sophia. He hated leaving her this letter. She had already lost so much. Dumas hoped she would understand, but already he was pulling at stitches—opening a wound so deep nothing could stanch the bleeding. With a heavy heart, he closed the door and headed into the emptiness of the night.

Tiffany Daune doesn't get why people want to grow up or why anyone would ever stop eating candy. Her purse is filled with books, lip gloss and a few pieces of Lego bricks. She writes best with a dish of chocolate chips on hand and finds licorice makes a better straw than plastic.
She lives on an island and believes mermaids may be raiding her candy stash, though she hasn't caught them, yet.

Blog Tour: Stripped by Brooklyn Skye ~ Review & Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the Stripped blog tour, hosted by the amazing YA Bound!  You can see the entire tour scheduled HERE.  Today on my stop I have my review of this wonderful story, along with a tour-wide giveaway!

Title: Stripped
Author: Brooklyn Skye
Published: May 14, 2013
Source: received via blog tour
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

“I like you.” His voice is low and soft, which I don’t deserve. I look away, down the rutted parking lot.
“Don’t…waste those words on me.”
He touches my cheek. “You just need someone to show you.”
“No.” I ease back again. “I don’t. So please, Torrin, stop trying to swoop in and save me. I don’t need saving.”

College freshman Quinn Montgomery will do anything to avoid the mistake her sister made—killing herself over a boy. But when she is forced into nude modeling at a local college to support her family after a bankruptcy, she begins to crack, just enough to let Torrin, the university’s top varsity oarsman, see that the real Quinn is not as feisty and unapproachable as she wants everyone to think. But letting someone in comes at a steep cost and, it turns out, Torrin is connected to Quinn’s family in more ways than she could ever imagine.

Quinn is on an emotional roller. Having to deal with the loss of her sister to suicide, whom she looked up to immensely, you would think is enough to drive someone into pure emotional torture. But on top of that, Quinn is also dealing with her family's inability to pay for her schooling since the "incident" that forced her father, the Dean of the school, to resign. Now jobless and running out of money quickly, her parents are less than helpful with her college career. They can barely afford food, cutting costs whenever possible.  She is forced to take on a position as a nude model, worst of all at the school her father resigned from, in hopes of raising enough money to pay for her next semester at school.

Stripped has emotional twists and turns throughout. Though I thought this would be an overall very emotional and sappy read, it surely was not. It did tug at the heartstrings now and then, yet was silly at times, and extremely realistic. The struggles Quinn was facing were real. I instantly connected with Quinn on a deeper level. Though she's tough, totally snarky, and says and does the most bizarre things, I quickly became a fan of her, rooting for her to make it through her struggles. Torrin, the guy she meets at the school she works at, was an extremely lovable character to me. He was swift and witty with his comments, and didn't let Quinn's harsh personality and tough, hard-ass exterior push him away.

Stripped reminded me a bit of The Truth About Letting Go by Leigh T. Moore.  Dealing with difficult issues is never easy, especially when you're a teenager.  This story resolves around love, heartache, acceptance and forgiveness.  It sends a strong message, one that will stick with you for a while after finishing.  I think anybody that enjoys that type of story (mushy at times, harsh at others, that seriously packs a punch!) will really enjoy this book.

(P.S. Yes, we all know about my love for all things owls.  And I must admit, I might be slightly obsessed with this owl necklace on the cover... okay, maybe a little bit more than slightly.  I NEED that necklace!!! :P)

Brooklyn Skye is just your average awkward girl who's obsessed with words. She grew up in a small California town where she quickly realized writing was an easy escape from small town life.
