Synopsis (Goodreads):Waking up with a strange man is scary. Realizing you lost fifteen years of your life overnight? That's terrifying. With her memories from seventeen to thirty-two gone, Kate has no idea who she is and where she belongs. As she begins to fall for the man who found her, she wonders if she forgot those years for a reason. Should she keep trying to retrieve her original self, or start a new life?
My Thoughts:
Okay, so imagine this... you wake up (naked too, I might add) in a strange man's bed. You look in the mirror, and what do you see? Yourself... looking MANY years older than you did before. Well, this is what poor Kate is facing. Her last memory is when she was 17, and she comes to find out she is now 32 and has absolutely no recollection of the last 15 years of her life. Devastating, right?!
Blank Slate Kate kicks amnesia butt!! In my opinion, amnesia novels can be hard to relate to, appearing unrealistic and hard to believe... but this one was amazing!! Heather has a wonderful way of developing a story in a way that is completely realistic and hits close to home. The characters are totally relatable and seem to be people you would know in your everyday lives. The concept of losing a memory in your mind, but not always in your heart, is a strong one.
This was a page-turner for sure. In one chapter I would be rooting for Mr. Hot Stranger, then in the next it's all Mr. Loveable Past. What a crazy journey Kate was forced to go through to discover her past and plan her future. I honestly had no idea how this story would end until the very last page, and I loved that.
My favorite little part, I have to add, was Kate's new found love of iPhones. I have one as well... and I have to say, I LOVE my iPhone! Definitely one of the greatest creations of our present day. :)
I read this book in a day, which I'm rarely able to do. I couldn't put it down! Even with my infant in my arms while feeding him, I had my iPad propped up so I could continue with Kate's story. Now THAT'S telling you something. Page after page the story developed and grew, pulling me in more and more.
In short, I just LOVED Blank Slate Kate! I can't say enough good about it. I look forward to reading more from Heather in the future. (And a little birdy told me she's coming out with a couple new books in 2012, so keep your eyes open for them!! I have a strong feeling you won't be disappointed.)

Author Bio:
Growing up, I was an avid (rabid?) reader. I am a natural speed reader, regularly clocked at about 1200 wpm (I read Harry Potter 5 in just under three hours).
After careers as a software developer and elementary school computer science teacher, in 2005 I took up the National Novel Writing Month challenge and attempted to write a novel in a month. I succeeded, and the first draft of my first novel "Life, Love, and a Polar Bear Tattoo" was the result. I realized I love writing. I left teaching, and I haven't looked back since!

Awesome book, I loved it!
I loved this one too! The amnesia aspect definitely was more realistic and I also went back and forth between the present and the past. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Can't wait to read more of Heather's books!
