17-year-old Sophie lies on her deathbed in California, awaiting the inevitable loss of her battle with cancer…
17-year-old Declan stares down two armed thugs in a back alley in Galway, Ireland…
17-year-old Anat attempts to traverse a booby-trapped tunnel between Israel and Egypt…

All three strangers should have died at the exact same moment, thousands of miles apart. Instead, they awaken together in an abandoned hospital—only to discover that they’re not alone. Three other teens from different places on the globe are trapped with them. Somebody or something seems to be pulling the strings. With their individual clocks ticking, they must band together if they’re to have any hope of surviving.

Soon they discover that they've been trapped in a future that isn't of their making: a deadly, desolate world at once entirely familiar and utterly strange. Each teen harbors a secret, but only one holds the key that could get them home. As the truth comes to light through the eyes of Sophie, Declan, and Anat, the reader is taken on a dark and unforgettable journey into the hearts of teens who must decide what to do with a second chance at life.

Oh boy, this one's a real toughy!  Strangelets is definitely the type of book that really challenges the reviewer in that writing too much about it will give the story away.  I think the synopsis alone is all you need to know regarding this story to be able to fully enjoy it.  So I'll stay away from the story aspects for this review and just comment more on my feelings regarding the book.

Strangelets was action-packed and what I would consider a go-go-go type of story.  I really enjoyed that aspect of it.  I felt the beginning, which basically just gave the background of the characters, was a little slow and hard to get into, but it picked up after a bit and I found myself really into the story.  I wasn't a big fan of the ending.  It just kind of... well... ended.  I know some stories just seem to work like that, but I was hoping for something more with this one.  It was a little too convenient for me.

Overall, I would recommend Strangelets to fans of science fiction and thrillers.  The story was fast-paced, creative, and kept my attention throughout.  I'm eager to see what Gagnon comes out with next.

    1. I did overall enjoy it... it just wasn't a favorite of mine. I think you should definitely still read it. I've seen quite a few 4 and 5 star reviews, so maybe you will love it like they did. It's definitely a book worth giving a chance. :)
