Caramel Cinnamon thought the worst day of her life was the day her grandparent’s the King and Queen of the Elves of Cardamom went missing.
She was wrong!
The day she spills sticky toffee syrup onto her father’s computer, that's when her worst nightmare begins. Suddenly she finds herself marooned on a forbidden planet by an evil clone, with a very sticky secret.
Caramel is desperate to find a way to escape and rescue her grandparents. If she doesn't she will lose her dreams of returning to Cardamom to become a healer like her mum.
Luckily, she has a secret of her own and the lives of her family and friends depend on it! Suitable for ages 9-12
Elves! Who doesn't love a cute story involving elves?! Can you tell I do? ;) But it doesn't stop with elves... there are many other equally-awesome characters that you will meet along the way. Grasso created amazing characters with such detail that I fell in love with them instantly.
The Escape From the Forbidden Planet was such an enjoyable, quick read. It starts off strong and doesn't lose any steam. I loved the characters Grasso created, along with the complex story. There ended up being much more involved in this story than I thought there would be at first glance. It was adventurous, imaginative, and oh-so-much fun!
One thing I really loved about the story that I wanted to point out is all of the references to food!! And not just any food... but caramel-covered amazingness, basically. This story will definitely have your stomach growling. Recipes, please, Ms. Grasso?? :)
When my son gets older I plan to read this with him. I already recommended it to my niece as well. This is a really cute story that children will love. If you enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, and a bit of teenage drama, you will enjoy this book!

This sounds like a very cute story! I think that I am going to have to get this one for my neighbor, Jieanna. I think she would have a blast with this one. And I might just have to read it too, after she is finished with it. Or maybe before, you know, just to make sure it is appropriate! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Lisa for a lovely review. For Jaime above if you have a kindle or IPad it is free on Amazon till June 8. I hope you can grab a copy. Cheers Julie Grasso
